Classical Ballet Program
Stacey’s Dance Studio offers a strong classical ballet program for dancers five years and older. We follow a specialized Imperial Classical Ballet Syllabus. This curriculum is unique to our studio and challenges students with a combination of set and free work ensuring all students can achieve their potential in a great learning environment.
Ballet is the basis of great dance technique which strengthens a dancer’s ability to move with precision and correct technique in all other forms of dance. Dancers will learn correct ballet terminology and will focus on their strength, correct posture, flexibility, and confidence which carries them forward in all areas of dance and other areas of life.
- Class Components: Ballet classes consists of barre work, port de bras, adage, pirouettes, allegro, batterie, allegro, demi-pointe, and pointe work (when children are physically strong enough and approved for pointe shoes). Musicality and presentation are also essential components of each ballet class. Attendance is crucial for children to achieve confidence and success in their classes. Also arriving to class on time will help them work safely and avoid injury.
- Ballet Levels: Levels offered include: Pre-Primary, Primary, Grades One to Seven, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. The length of classes and number of classes required per week depend on the age of child and level. The ballet grade level does not reflect the school academic grade level but instead will depend on their experience, knowledge, and skill and will be assessed by our teachers. Children will be placed in the ballet grade which will allow them to achieve success.
Class Attire: Ballet attire includes a black leotard, pink tights, pink canvas ballet split sole shoes, and hair in a bun for girls. Boys attire is a white tucked in t-shirt, black shorts, white socks, and black ballet shoes. Please label all ballet shoes with your dancer’s name.
